Do your schedules follow pretty much the same format year after year?

Yes, we have two semesters each year, beginning in January, and July.

May I pay the deposit to assure my seat more in advance than two months as your website states?
Yes, a deposit holds your space (8 - 10 student max per class). The deposit is refundable up to 2 months before the class begins.

What if I don't know which program I want to take?
You may begin with the Main Course or Main Course Intensive to see if this program and The Language of CookingTM inspires you. You may also take just the Foundation Course and choose a specific Pro Course training at another time.

When is the best time to visit the school for an interview?
Personal interviews are scheduled on a individual basis. We take ½ - 1 hour with each student who visits. Occasionally we group people together when their schedules coincide.

Is SNC accredited?
No.

Can I receive a degree from SNC?
No. SNC is not in the educational system. We do offer an internationally recognized certificate.

What kind of certification do graduates receive?
Certificates are awarded upon satisfactory completion of the course. We do not give certificates if students miss more than one demonstration class. Classes may be made up within a year, unless other arrangements are made.

Do you have financial aid or work-study available?
Yes, our financial aid is a standard loan. Work study is available up to 5 hours a week.  Even though a student has been accepted for the work-study program, there is no guarantee of how many hours a semester they will have work.

Where do students live while studying at SNC? How much will it cost?
Many stay in private homes or in shared rental situations. SNC will assist in placing students near the school in private homes or shared housing. The average monthly price for a room in Boulder is $500. Louisville, Lafayette, and Longmont offer lower rates and are within 15 minutes driving distance. Check out our links page for more specific info.

Do I need a car while in Boulder?
The mountains are easy to access. Buses take people to the ski resorts. Bike paths are throughout Boulder and many people ride bikes, even in the winter. With only a 3 mile radius, one can easily walk around Boulder. The bus system is reliable and user friendly.

Does SNC teach nutrition?
SNC teaches energetic nutrition, not the science of nutrition.

Do you have a placement program for graduates?
Yes. Students have access to requests for graduates: internships, business opportunities, restaurant and private cooking.

Do you have an alumni program?
Yes. Our graduate web services package offers Personal Chef and Teacher Training grads a forum to receive information and participate in on-going communication with SNC, classmates, as well as business opportunities.
